Heres Something You Don't See Everyday

Where is the rest of it?

Dave

We used to use one of them as our race-car hauler (for a Formula B). It worked rather well for that, albeit a bit under-powered! (it was in WAY better shape than that thing though!!).

bugeyemike, yah that thing is wasted, i had the ford, and chevy corvair models of that configuration far superior, i think dodge also had one as well.

$1850. are you kidding me?

Only if the RV comes with it.

I drove a 1965 one of those from '79 - '93. Greatest pickup truck ever made! Weighs a ton. HAULS a ton. 5 x 8-1/2 foot bed, plus the storage locker under the bed, between the cab and the engine bay. 20 - 22 MPG. It's not for people in a hurry, however...

The one in the ad doesn't look quite worth the asking price. I think I let mine go for $250 in '93. After 6 Minnesota winters, it looked only slightly better than that one. And the tranny, after only 250,000 miles, was starting to pop out of gear.

WHAT??? Only 250,000 miles on the tranny and it was popping outta gear??? Sounds like the dealer shoulda fixed it for free if you ask me!! LOL

Heck... A VW Pickup like that is commonplace, see them all the time here in Calgary, I see at least a few anyway...

You want to see a rare pickup? Check this out...

Anyone hazard a guess as to what it is?

There certainly aren't many of these left worldwide...

Okay, that took long... A few minutes, although I just might dock you half a point for not saying DKW...

Anyhow, this is definitely not a truck you see everyday...

One of those showing up with a Formula-V on top would cause a riot...

Way many cool points

Agreed! Very Cool!

And yes, Dave, it would be a neat FV transporter.

Speaking of interesting transporters, I came across this today....impressive!

That's Michael Salter's rig (a sometime poster here). Michael Oritt (a definite poster here) has been the navigator in that Healey (100S) for the past two years in the Targa Newfoundland Race.

That's a fun looking car transporter (Mike Salter's), I met Mike once at an Ontario car show, back when I lived there, fabulous guy!

Speaking of interesting British trucks

Some of you folks in Ontario may know Big Al Guest and his Mini's, and his very interesting British trucks... I think some may have seen these photos before

1949 Austin K8, left-hand-drive! In the early days after WW2 they sold British commercial-class trucks here in Canada, not many survive, of the (likely) few that were sold, I'd almost say that this K8 might be the only LHD example in the world...

1963 BMC Coach, one of two (or three?) in existence and/or ever built, used in North America as factory support vehicles for BMC, then just sold off, Al restored this example into gorgeous condition

was in at mike's place yesterday where he keeps that transporter

Very familiar with that kinda beast.

In 72 I was the mechanic for International Racing Services. A two car Formula Three(Martini/NovaMotor) out of Argentueil, France. We had one of those, with a metal braced frame covering the back covered with plywood. One car road in the back of the VW and the other we towed on a trailer. 6 volt... Fun.. Have you ever tried pushing VW pickup towing a trailer over the Alps???? Ah, Memories.... But we were able to carry the tools on the nose of the trailer and in the side boxes of the VW. Replaced a head gasket on one of the Martinis, when we were stuck at a Spanish border crossing one evening for several hours, waiting for customs approval, so we could cross into Portugal to go down to the race at Cascais....
