My Firecrest Solar Filter arrived today (95mm threads)! This is what I will be using on my Sigma 150-600mm camera for (I hope) photographing the total solar eclipse on August 21st. This is a pretty good ND filter that adds no color cast to the image. This picture was shot today with a Canon 7D Mark II and the Sigma lens at 600mm (Since the 7D2 is a crop from sensor the equivalent focal length is around 920mm). Still learning and will play around a bit to find the best combo of f-stop and shutter speed. (Pretty boring picture - no sun spots)

Here's another image I shot this morning practicing for the big day shooting the eclipse. This is a crop of the south-west part of the sun where you can see a small sun spot. I did a bit of post processing to bring the color temp a little warmer.

Wow... great shots. I tried to shoot a few of Venus transiting the sun a few year ago (which looked like a big sun-spot) but with little success.

I am shooting in Manual and practicing so that I know exactly where the sweet spot is for focus and f-stop and shutter speed for when I photograph the eclipse later this month.
