I have a set of 4 brand new AE Hepolite pistons with rings, wrist pins, and clips in the original box.

P/N 18599/V1 listed as fitting Stag. They're .040" oversize so 87mm, original bore 85.987mm same as the TR motors.

Anybody interested, make an me offer I can't refuse.

I didn't think they exchanged with anything other than a Stag. But maybe a TR7??? Didn't mean to imply they fit anything else.

A G R E A T D E A L to someone who can use them; I can't.

I'm not sure, either. But I was always under the impression the a Stag V-8 was a TR7 X 2....I'm sure someone will give us the correct answer.

Its not quite a TR7 2.0litre X 2, that would make it a 4.0litre V8 instead of the 3.0litre that it is.

FWIW, The standard TR7 bore and stroke is 90.30mm X 78.00mm. The Stags standard numbers are 86.00 X 64.50mm. So those 87mm pistons would be far too undersized for TR7's.

I dunno Peter, That PN must be strictly an AE number, not a Triumph number.
Besides, the TR7 PN for pistons are UKC8519 and Stag has always been 155473, so that shows a difference there also.

FWIW, the TR7 2.0 liter stroke is different from a Stag and I don't recall the pistons being interchangeable.

I would double check that parts book reference against some other reference. Aftermarket parts books are notorious for having errors in cross referencing their numbers.

To correct a common myth, the Stag is not two TR7 engines stuck or welded together. The Stag V8 was basically designed first, then the 2.0 liter engine followed and was first used by SAAB, then the 1972 Dolomite.

The V8 Stag was initially planned to be released in 1969 but delayed until 1970, and the TR7 came out in 1975.

It is an AE Hepolite part number. The information I posted is taken from the label on the box. Also marked "Stag" with a sharpie.

Pics tomorrow.

please mike the piston diameter and pin diameter and post

Hi Peter,

I went and pulled my old pistons for some of the old Triumph V8's I have torn down. All those pistons are Stanpart - no help. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Then I remembered my project Triumph V8 in the garage is still in short block configuration in a spot where I have to trip over it every day - sort of a motivator to get it assembled. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

Guess what, pistions are AE part number 18599. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

I do put stuff like this on my shelf for when club members need them, so how much do I need to write the check for to transfer them from your shelf to my shelf?

Now to locate 4 more in 0.040" oversize and maybe I'll use them on my "next" Triumph V8 project.

Hi Glenn,

It depends on Randall who made first contact.

I'm away for the weekend and will contact you after I return assuming your shelf still has a blank spot for the pistons /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif and Randall's shelf is too full for 4 spare pistons.

That is fine, sell them to Randall. He has deeper pockets. They would only sit on my shelf until someone needed them.
