how the h-e-double-toothpicks do I get the motherloving control piston back in its bore without the large seal coming right off its seat and over its bump-stop.

...oh, rebuiling a stock power brake servo from a 64 phase 1.

Hello Paul,

I am not familiar with the servo you are working on so I'm guessing at what your problem is.
If you are having trouble getting a piston with a rubber seal into a bore and it is being dislodged from its location on the piston I suggest that you use something like a hose clip to squeeze it down then tap the piston gently into the bore with a suitable lubricant (brake fluid?) The same principle as a piston ring clamp.

Hi Paul, What I generally do is put the thing in a box and ship it to Power Brake Exchange in San Jose Ca. When it comes back I just put it right back where it came from no problem whatsoever.--Keoke /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonod.gif
 
Years ago the instructions came with an illustration showing how to make a tool to do what I think you are doing. I made one out of a coat hanger. I'll look and see if I still have it.

Rolled up a sheet of 2 mil (.002 inch) mylar in to a tube and it worked like a charm. Thanks
