Help Needed, getting those 1/4 Eliptics out of the spring mounting box

03 25 15 - Right Spring 1.jpg03 25 15 - Right Spring 2 small.jpgHere is what things look like in there. I do think the spring is salvageable. Will need derusted, wire brushed or blasted, POR-15, and graphite paint. PS Looks better. I have a new set of 10 leaves. Thoughts reuse these or go for the 10 leaf springs. Other pics are of spring pocket. There is a new bulkhead panel over the top here. Thoughts on the spring pocket and will I need to pull it all apart and replace?

Bulkhead and surrounding areas have been redone. Unfortunately the shop that did the work 35 years ago did not pull this spring out before they did the work. Lower mounting plate feels strong from outside.

Woohoo, glad you got that spring out of there! The spring looks salvageable to me and you need to check out the welds on the spring box. The bottom plate sandwiches the spring and floor between the bottom of the spring box and the bulkhead and floor stiffeners transfer the all the weight and torque throughout the body. This is an area that you need to make sure is solid!

That area is quite sound and good metal. My concern is the piece of metal that is sandwiched in between. Will need to look further once on the rotisserie and I've got the bottom Spring Plate off of the car.
