Spitfire Help moving a Spit in Salem

I just got a 77 parts car and need to move it right away. Is there anybody in the Salem area with a towbar or trailer that could help me out. Do the rental places rent towbars anymore? And yes Mark it's the same one.

Last time I needed to haul a non-running car home, I rented a car trailer from U-Haul for $49 for the day. They have hydraulic reaction brakes, winches to crank the car on and off. It was way easier than using the tow dolly I rented the time before that.

Scott

Thanks Scott, I tried but UHaul wanted a heavier truck than our Ford Ranger even for a tow dolly. I ended up getting a tow bar from HF on sale for 44$. Hey if you still need a fuse block I've got an extra now.

Oh, yeah, I want a fuse block! Does this car have its original carb? If so, it would be a closer match for my '76 than your '79 carb.

U-Haul didn't have a problem with us, but then a Range Rover tows much more than a Ranger. Good deal from HF, though.

Yes, It has the original carb still hooked up. It's a bit grungier than the other but probably works. The story was that the car ran when parked (20 years ago). You can take your pick.

first off, another spit? second, do you still need a lower a arm for your second spit? third, i'm really trying to remember this next mondays meeting. you're going, right? probably talk at ya this weekend.

ok, fourth. these late spits have the steering box with the ignition switch, right? hmm...

I know, they're multiplying like cockroaches. I went to look at it for Norton47 and he passed on it. They had a dual carb manifold with all the linkage and 2 hs2s separate from the car and I was going to just get that but they emailed a week later desperate to get rid of it so I got a pretty good deal. It came with a roll bar, 5 wire wheels, an intact engine, a racing seat and the dual SUs, I couldn't pass it up. The body is pretty hopeless though it's probably going for scrap. I'm going to try to sell stuff I don't need. I'm going to get started breaking it down this weekend. Come on over I might try to start it before I pull it. I probably won't need that lower arm now, I'll know better when I get a chance to evaluate what I've got. The meeting is a week from Monday right? Next Monday is the 28th. The ignition switch is on the steering column on these.

...it's kind of like eating potato chips; nobody can eat just one....

Six Spits! You've got the fever bad.

Yes we are both in the Portland Triumph Owners Association. Meetings are the first monday of the month at Stark Street Pizza in Portland, you should come to the next one on Aug 4th. I recently joined the Willamette Motor Club too. They aren't Triumph centric but the have a few LBCs.

Meetings are at 8:00. Here is the clubs website PTOA I sent you a PM.
