Help... MG suddenly won't crank *DELETED*

Re: Help... MG suddenly won't crank

Royce, I would start with the battery, if that's good, maybe the starter selonoid hung up, try tapping the starter with the end of a hammer or broom handle, try rocking the car back and forth with it in gear, try "pop" starting the car with a push. Maybe not the greatest suggestions but it's what I would try. Goodluck MACK

Re: Help... MG suddenly won't crank

Hi Royce,
A quick check is to turn on the lights, & hit the starter. If the lights dim way down, or go out, It is likely that the battery is low or there is a high resistance connection in the path from the battery to the starter or in the ground path. If the lights stay bright, there is a problem in the starter, the solenoid, or it's circuits.

Another quick check, hold the starter switch on for a while. Then feel the battery & starter cable connections for heat. If the battery is good, a bad connection will get noticeably warmer.

Re: Help... MG suddenly won't crank

Thanks for the help guys. I crawled under the car and immediately saw that a wire had come loose from the starter. Must have been hanging on by a hair and got jarred loose when I goofed with the clutch. She's running again! Sweet! Thanks again for the advice.
