I'm in the process of doing a bunch of cleaning, stripping, refurbing, polishing, replacing with stainless, etc. under the hood right now, and wanted to ID a couple of bolts on my 1275 engine. They are just below the spark plugs, circled in red in the picture attached.

Mainly, I just want to pull them, clean them up (or replace) and put them back. But not knowing what they are I'm hoping nothing will fall off inside if I do so - so looking for some help IDing.

The PO of this thing had the engine painted once upon a time, and just painted everything. So lots of stripping (thermostat housing, water pump, and heater valve) and polishing have done a lot to make it look much nicer.

Those are plugging the ports used for the air rail/air pump. Replace them with some 7/16-20 set plugs.

Finally found some plugs. Anything I should put on them? It seems like I'd want it to be a good airtight seal.

I used copper washers under mine, but it probably makes no difference. They're downstream of the combustion chambers and the only thing that'll happen if they leak is you'll get some exhaust gas coming out there.

Mine were installed with just some high temp loctite thread sealant.
