Help me fight the DMV

I posted a few weeks ago wondering what year my car was actually made. The vin is AN5L47705 meaning it was made in 1960. I really want to get my title changed to reflect this. Can anyone help me get or show some evidence of the year it was made?

I know that many dealers back then would not sell a car until months later and just title it in the year of sale. I've spoken with one official at the DMV office and they've looked at the microfiche and it shows the original documents. They originally had it titled as a 62!!!

It's not the end of the world to leave it a 61 but I would like to get it changed if at all possible.

Thanks!

Do you have a heritage certificate?

I think the DMV would honor it.

I have the same problem with my Bugeye......it is titled as a 1960, but is really a 1959. I haven't tried trying to re-title it yet, but plan on getting the Heritage Certificate first. The info is taken from the actual build logs, right? The DMV should look at that seriously and correct the problem (at least I hope so!) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out.

Ben,
The SC DMV can be a real pain to deal with. Unfortunately my '62 MKII was originally registered in AL then GA. It was never given a GA title since it was built prior to 1965. The bad thing is it was registered by the engine number. Of course now it has a 1275 in it and all my paperwork has 9CGDAH8876 instead of HAN6L7271. I carry the original engine plate with me just in case I get questioned. I tried with no luck to get it changed so I gave up. If your Heritage Certificate helps I will try the same thing. The year on the title really does not matter much since the Car No. is the important thing.

There are some postal strike issues in England so it may take longer than normal right now. My two came in 4-6 weeks.
