Trying to figure out the year, seller says 61 but not sure. Is there a VIN decoder?

3 Wipers, backup lights and the telltale "chiclet headrests make it a 1969.

Bruce

I knew I can count on you Guys, thank you Sir.

Okay the wheels, how can I install regular Ministyle types?

Whats the vin?

That car is a strange amalgam of bits. Reverse lights, vent window handles and three wiper arms indicate a "later" chassis, after '68. It has been 'retrofitted' with things like lug spinners, steering wheel, side marker reflectors removed and holes filled.

Mid-'65 was the change point for the pull-handle doors (our first B was 'titled' as a '66 yet had pull handles).

It seems it has been re-assembled to appear as an earlier example.

I concur and I shall name him "Bitsa".

I primarily bought it for the Classic Conversion V6 bits in it (the $750 kit).

We'll see how it works out. I didn't see rust holes per see but if there is any holes I will remove bits and return him back to the graveyard.

How easy will ti be to change to regular wheels? I like meats on my wheels.

Changing the front is as easy as changing the front hubs. For me, the easiest way to change the rear was to swap the entire rear end. That way there is no messing with changing wheel studs, wheel spacers, etc. I did this very thing just a few monts ago. It does require changing the e-brake cable too.

I see, so it will be some work to change over to regular wheels.

Well I picked up Bitsa today. She's in suprisingly good condition, no rust to speak off so far and I poured over her.

Do we have an engine ID yet?

Another clue as to year would be to look at the tailight and marker light lenses. They're dated. This will get you within a year or so.

Herr Dokkter, engine ID won't do us any good here as PO was in the middle of a classic conversion V6 kit, It has a Chevy V6 engine and transmission of unknown (surprise) year.

I know it used to be red.

I will look at the lenses today.

Lenses will likely be inconclusive. THAT'S where the PO got "1961" from: "SAE STDB 61"...."L676 ENGLAND" and "LUCAS" are also on the lens. The "year" trick works with Detroit, not Abingdon.

Doc...how about other components like horn or wiper motor? I know both are dated in my Mini....does same apply for MGs?

Is there a Mr. Ryan Felder on board?

GLO-BRITE are aftermarket lenses. The "L676" would be a Lucas... you have one of each?

The "star" thingie appears to be a base for a radio antenna.

Later style Brake MC which takes the '67 out of the pic unless is were changed. What's the vin?

Yep, Vince. That whole pedal box is the "taller" version, dual circuit... The likelihood of retrofitting all that to an earlier car is slim, IMO.

Just a quick little rub down.

We have some surface rusts it seems or maybe more. Plans are not to do any body work so I may remove bits and send the shell back to the yard.
