Help #3 - diff + half shafts now

In anticipation of reassembling, 2 questions

1. Is there a left & right to half shafts? (I have them marked BTW /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif )

2. Recently there was a conversation about using non-detergent oil in the tranny - also heard about adding Lucas oil stabilizer - does any of this make sense in the diff for the same reason? If so, what is the Lucas- oil ratio?

BTW - I picked up the end of the axle to check the plate for the Help #2 post and poured virtually all the oil out the other end. Don't worry though - the puddle is gone /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

The axle shafts aren't handed, but if they've been run in one direction, the metal can take a "set". To be safe, put them back in their original location.
I use either Red Line MT90 in the diff and tranny, or regular 90W in the diff and 20W50 in the tranny. Personally, I think Lucas additives are more snake oil.
I've never had a lubrication related failure of either, so it must work! That includes the race cars, BTW.

All the 'additive' hype is just that. What did we ever do before: "STP, The Racer's Edge!" ?!?! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
