Just a small hello from somewhat of a "newbee" Jag owner (about 15 months now). I got my XJS as a retirement gift. Something I've wanted since I saw one in 76 on the streets of some northern town while stationed in Germany. So this is my 25 year dream come true. It has been scary sometimes because of getting used to not having parts and documentation or expertise readily available as with my other vehicles but that's where the forums have helped tremendously. I have been reading forum inputs since joining and I spent my first year overhauling my cooling system based on the horror stories of overheating and dropped valve seats. I check at least five jaguar forums daily in hopes of picking up that quick tip or vital info to keep my XJS running. My goal is to make this my daily driver (I love it more every drive). I've only put about 3000 miles on the car in the last 15 months but was told that driving the cat is actually good medicine. I just haven't gotten quite comfortable with the concept yet. Anyway, I'm putting more miles on it now and with all your help, will achieve my goal soon. My other cars are 95 Tbird Supercoupe and a 97 Jeep Cherokee; both great vehicles. I love tinkering (thats why I have a 94 XJS vice the new 2003 XK super car) but these cars bring a whole new explanation to the term "tinkering" and that's why I will be a part of these forums to help people like myself who want to learn and live the experience. If I can help anyone else in this light I look forward to it.

Don, welcome to the forum. Glad that you decided to take the plunge. We have a senior Jaguar technician from the UK as a member, and access to information and assistance from other scources too, so hopefully whatever you need to know will be covered. I support the "drive it" point of view, the term "use it or lose it" applies to cars, and any vehicle will benefit from regular use. Enjoy yourself here, post often!

Welcome Don,

There are good folks here and good info to be shared. If & when I get my "E" roadworthy (working on it, all it takes is time & $$$$$$$) I'm sure the old Honda will go into semi-retirement....hey, they were made to be driven.

Cheers
