I'm new here and just wanted to say hello. I have a 71 spridget that I bought in 99 just fixed what I had to fix and drove it about every day that summer with the intentions of selling it, but I was smitten with it and decided to do some more indepth upgrading and repair. Its 2004 and I still ain't done. The more I fixed, the more I decided needed to be fixed until I have it stripped down to nothing. No fenders, interior, motor, nothing. I have started with the Front suspension and sweated new parts onto the front a-arms and put all new modern bushings in it and redid the rear springs and bushings and put in a new set of Diff gears to give a 3:55 final drive instead of 3:90. I am currently doing the five speed upgrade upgrade. I have some parts from both the Morriservice and rivergate kits, but not enough from either. I am making some of the parts as I go. I am going the morris service route, with all 210 parts. I don't want to use a special clutch like rivergate. I welded in a new floor pan and new bottom door hinges on both sides and repaired rust because some moron puttied up the seam between the fenders and the sill with Bondo when it last had body work and dirt and water were stuck in there. I have it in my basement/garage with all my homebrew. Maybe thats why its taking so long.
I spent two years in England back in the 80s in the Air Force and worked on all manner of LBC bangers over there for myself and friends. This looks like a cool forum for info. I hope to get my 71 back to a daily driver and take a few trips and be able to cruise the parkway here in the smokies. I hope everyone is well.
