Hi all,
I found BCF while google searching. My name is Michael, I live in a small village in bavaria-germany. Since a few years I own a MG-midget in bronce yellow. I bought this pretty car with clutch failure, in a used, but solid condition,in a spur-of-the moment. Then I restored it "frame off".
The initial registration of the Midget was in California.
After the Midget restoration, my dream was to drive a Big-Healey. So I searched a long time, for one which compares with my budget. Since this summer I own a black 1965- Austin Healey Bj8 with red interieur. It is not in the best condition, but running. After my first breakdowns, I know that I have to do the restauration soon. Now I fight with myselve and a little with my family, If I start now, or later or should I make only partly or frame off.....?
Sorry for this long introduction. I will look for a few pictures, next.
Regards, Michael

Hello Michael,

1st, "Welcome" to the wonderful world of "LBCs" on the "BCF".

Regarding your Healey; I believe the decision on starting now or later, Part of Full Restoration, would be based on your "Wallet" and your available time.

Its your decision.

Best Wishes,

Russ

PS: Wish I had such a hard decision to make!!

Hello Michael:

I am glad you stumbled on the best british car forum in the world.

Wilkommen, Michael...I habe in Deutschland fur 3-1/2 jahrs gewohnt....und lextes sommer war Ich in Deutschland fur 6 woche....aber mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut als Ihre English!

Welcome. I've been to Rosemheim, my wife has a friend she once worked with that lives there. We had a wonderful time there, and got to see some of the local countryside.

I bought a BJ8 that needed a complete restoration and I'm now fully into it, but it's taking a lot longer and has involved a lot more work than I'd originally imagined.

You're probably already familiar with the European suppliers of AH parts: Limora (German) and their British subsidiary SC Parts, and the varous British vendors:AH Spares, Denis Welch or Cape International.

Welcome!

If you were to ask for my opinion, I'd say this:
Make sure all the safety-related items on the car are in good conditon (brakes, steering, etc.) and then drive it!

But I'm not a very patient person.......

Thank you for your kind welcome words.
I started the restoration a few days ago.
Every moment is exciting. There is no hour without a small problem to solve.
I hope that i will stay untroubled from frustrations.
Yes I know a few british parts-suppliers in germany from the time, i made my midget project. I think Limora is not the cheapest.
And i have a person with a good knowledge about british cars. He is workin mainly on Minis since several years.

So let´s go on.
There is only on way....forward.

greetings from Bavaria, Michael

Hello Michael,
you are welcome. Great, one more Michael and one more german member in this forum.
My english is not so pretty good than yours, but I think we should be understand here between the natural speakers.
For me it is the best here in the forum, to participate from the knowledge about the whole world.Specially about the many everytime positiv thinking american members with special historic detailed informations.
I read here more than I write, because of the sometimes difficult language
challenge.
By the way: I`m also currently work on a BT7 restoration...between job and family.... I think it is the way how you identify yourself better with the car. And you learn very much about the bugs on your car.
Also alltime you find here a funny-politely sound. Really no bad guys here. But enjoy by yourself.

Chears Michel- who live near Frankfurt

Hi There germanmichel & Michael,

I too was born in Germany. Hamburg to be exact a "LOOONNNGGG" time ago.

My family arrived here in `49 & I was the ripe old age of "2":

"OOPS"; There goes my age! Who cares anyway? I surely don`t!

Whats "Hamburg" like these days?

"A-FITA-ZEIN": Phoentically speaking of course.

Regards,

Russ
