Hello all and thanks for accepting me into your forum.
Right now there is a 1974 TR6 on jack stands in my garage. Been there for maybe 20 years. First bought the car in 1980. Not in very good condition but the idea was to restore it and, it was good enough to drive around in and view the country side (yes, we have countryside in NJ  )

After 5 or 6 years of off and on driving around, I put it up on the jack stands and tried to start my restoration but got seriously sidetracked by work and family. A few years ago I had a shop check out the car and identify what needed t be fixed. Now as I approach retirement, the plan is for me to first get it started and then fix up the identified mechanical problems. After that, take it back to the shop for them to cosmetically prettify it. It doesn't need to be concourse ready but nice .

Got the gas tank drained and the rebuild kit for the carbs. With luck, after re-installing the carbs, oil change, and fresh gas, it will at least stutter and we'll go from there

Just remembered. I would like one piece of advice. Should I rebuild the fuel pump? After sitting so long without running, I'm thinking that might be gunked up as well. Looking on-line, seems to be a somewhat challenging but not overwhelming task.

First of all, welcome, glad you are here - sounds like a great project! In terms of the fuel pump, I wouldn't bother until you know it doesn't work. If it works drive it! and if you still want to rebuild it will make a nice winter project.

let us know how it goes!

Hello GeneF

Welcome to the forum

You will find the Triumph section is very active so you are sure to get plenty of tips and advice there for your TR6 project.

I hope you plan to use a trailer for the trip to the shop if the tires ar 20+ years old.

David

@David Tires are off the car but still, the shop I talk to offers very very favorable rates for flatbed towing service to/from their shop.
