In a former life I owned a Morris Mini 850 (but with twin chrome exhaust tips and foot-washing floor boards) and a Mk III Sprite. Almost a year and a half ago I got a hankering to buy another English sports car, which was probably inspired by a TR7 advertised as "restored" but that was not restored at all (well, the seats were nice), so I didn't buy it. I hoped to find a car before my knees gave out from age and I could no longer work a clutch! I discovered the MGE forums and learned much from the kind and knowledgeable people there about MG's, their propaganda steering me away from a lovely little Spitfire! (Feel free to stop reading at any time.) I have missed a couple of good B's and a Spridget or two but haven't completely given up. Ironically, we have had no snow on the ground this winter, and I put my search on hold because I didn't want the car sitting under a couple of feet of the stuff.
My introduction to English cars was my ride home from the hospital in a Morris 8 after I was born. Actually, the Morris didn't make it all the way!
I am looking forward to enjoying this forum every time I can remember my password! Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum! :savewave:

Hi and welcome, quite a few nice LBC's come up in that neck of the woods.

Pat

Hello,
Welcome to the BCF. I definately recognize you from the other site. Another one that I assumed was here all along...
Anyway, welcome. You'll find the site great and the people FRIENDLY.

zedvictor1, what a great screen name! Lemmee see, "Fancy" Smith and Bert Lynch to name but two....... Most members will not have a clue what I'm on about! Now the theme from Z-Cars will be running through my head the rest of the night!

I have a clue,Steve. :smirk: But then,I remember Dixon of Dock Green too  :jester:

Have you got the tune out of your head this morning?

Oh,welcome aboard zedvictor1.

Stuart.

"B-D to Zed Victor One"

Stuart it does not surprise me that you remember that..... And yes, the tune has RE-started in my head!

Zed, do you see the effect that you're having on the membership already? You'll fit right in!!!

It's just as well I didn't mention Watch with Mother!
Yes, I remember Dixon, too . . . from the old black-and-white days I'm afraid to say. What about PC Sweet from the first couple of seasons of Z Cars? I must be careful or I'll disappear into a fog of nostalgic reminiscence!

Welcome zed! Great choice of name! Watching that in the 60s was one of the main building-blocks for my enduring love of American cars, as the Zephyrs they used were the nearest thing we had... And then my dad bought one! Brand new, late 65, navy blue with (for a six-year-old) enoooooooormous pale blue bench seats! Now I live in Cyprus and before I bought my Capri (photo on your left) I so nearly bought a Zephyr... Good luck with your MG hunt. Oh, and what's wrong with a "fog of nostalgic reminiscence?" Isn't that what brings us together with all these elderly cars?

I'm not only hearing the music, I'm seeing that glorious head-on night shot of the Zephyr, that opened every episode...

Watch With Mother? Andy Pandy, and Bill and Ben The Flowerpot Men!!! Dixon of Dock Green, Z-Cars, it's no wonder I joined the plod.....

Does anyone remember the Comedy "Rosie"? That's much closer to real life as a copper in the seventies than "Life On Mars" (although it does have its moments).

The "fog of nostalgic reminiscence" has descended, my friends!!!

Welcome aboard zedvictor..
you have had a long history with english cars...lol
have a good time here.

I do! Seem to remember it ran for about 2 seasons and disappeared. Here's one for you then: "Copper's End" who played the sergeant?
