While visiting our Son who's stationed here in
Jacksonville,Florida,I thought that it'd be a cool idea
to drive down to visit with the Doc.
It was a fairly easy 3 1/2 drive down there.Had a
good visit.I probably put him to sleep with my stories.
Driving back, got stuck in rush hour traffic,& a couple
of hours later got caught in the biggest thunder & -
- Lightening storm I've ever seen!It took about 5 1/2 hours to get back.
I also stopped by the Brumos Porsche dealership here -
- (there was a race car in the showroom). There was a customer
who, upon seeing my TR6 t shirt, struck up a conversation with me.He was trying to decide between a new Porsche,& a new Jag.I got to see the race shop - there was a Fiat Abarth replica there that was pretty cool.
There are 2 British car repair shops here, one has a Etype V12 that needs to be put together that's for sale.If anyone's interested,I can give you the contact number.I was
told that the now-deceased owner put 50K into it.
I also got to see the vintage racer Ross Bremer's shops.Anglias MKI Cortinas,MKI Escorts,+ lots of other
interesting stuff.

Sounds like quite the trip, Doug.

bah... I'll take FL bugs and humidity any day... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

So, Doug, what route you gonna take back West - Southern route along the AL, MS coast into LA & across TX?

Yes- Florida does have bugs, especially in the parks where they don't spray.
Yes,the Doc really does have a Lotus. In fact,he has two
of them.
Tony,we're driving to the airport tomorrow afternoon,
arriving in Sacramento late tomorrow night.
I also didn't realize it until later that I was driving
a Ford FUSION through the lightening storm. Not a comforting
thing to think about when you're almost struck by lightening!

Doug, it kind of brings a new meaning to "be one with your vehicle", doesn't it! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

You sure it wasn't the same car in two different locations? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

That's right. I forgot you told me you were leaving the car in Tennessee with the son at his college.

Got home tonight.Wow! We've got mountains,mountain-
-roads,lots of trees,& the ocean out here.
Doc has a Lotus in the garage,& one in the back yard.
BTW - also saw one of the new Audi R8's heading down the
road on the way to Doc's house.Interesting styling - you
don't mistake it for any other kind of car.
Now I've got to get the TR & the Cortinas out to drive
them again.
