heater switch and cable options

The combinaition air-vent/ heater motor switch is no longer available from Moss/VictoriaBritish for my 67 midget.... Are there other suppliers? Anyone have a used one?

What have others done?

I was thinking about replacing it with a standard switch and a separate control for the air vent.. Just not sure where to put the knob for the vent. Perhaps I could rig a solenoid from a door lock? Or use a throttle or choke cable from something like my lawnmower?

Cheers

Any cable can be modified to work the heater air flap.
A lawnmower cable has worked for me.
But for the fan switch, I use the dash lamp toggle and just wired the dash lamps to come on with the headlights all the time.
Looks stock and only you will know the difference.

As posted by others, there are several technical work-arounds. You might also want to keep your eyes posted on eBay. All of the dash switches and gauges show up on a pretty regular basis. I have replaced several of my dash items this way. You can also set up a specialized eBay search in the eBay Motors Parts and Accessories section, looking for keywords like "bugeye," "sprite," "heater," and "switch." Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
