Heater control question

What should the location of the heater control cable be that comes thru the dash. In other words, if the OFF letters are at 12:00 position how is the cable positioned for knob installation for a 72 B?

The heater control valve should be in this position.

But I meant where it comes thru the dash and connects to the control knob. I need to know what position the cable should be before I put the knob on. I tried to attach a pic but it was to big.

Rick, I just changed the photo to make it a little clearer. When the knob is in the off position and the valve on the engine is in the off position as illustrated, just hook up the cable to the control in the dash and secure the outer casing on the clip. It should work properly. A suggestion on the control is to coat it with a small amount of white lithium grease as they get dried out from age. A little lube in the cable helps also. Hope this helps.
