Heater booster knob

How to you attach the heater booster knob? I can see a hole for a screw in the bottom of it but I don't have any of the parts to attach it?? Thanks!

DT

There is a single machine screw, flat top and beveled bottom, that screws through the bottom of the knob into the handle.

I do not know the size. I checked with Moss and they do not have it available currently. You might try Victoria British in Kansas or British Cars Specialists in California. BCS also carries used parts and may be a better shot. If not them, let me know and I will pull mine off and get the size and pitch.

Thanks Mark!

I also checked the usual suppliers including BCS and it seems that since it's such a simple part no one carries it?

Appreciate all your help!

I will be in the shop tonight pulling the head. I will try to remember to take a quick look at the screw.

Hi DT,

I took mine out and sized it up. It appears that a 4-40 machine screw should do it. It is definitely a 40 pitch thread, but the size might be some off British size. I did not have a 4-40 machine screw laying around to test it. The overall length is 1/4". I have attached a picture of the screw.

Hope this helps.

Mark

be careful, the threading may in fact be British Bicycle Standard. I know the lock fixing nut for the glove box lock on the BJ8 is this odd standard.
