Healey Will Not Start (a.k.a. "Failure to proceed") Part 137

Newbie here. Same thing, nothing happens when I hit the starter (with the key) though getting electricity as lights can turn on. Interesting the tachometer goes up to 1500 when I do hit the starter and stays there even though the engine is off. When I hit the button on the back of the starter solenoid, I hear a hum and that is it. Thoughts?
 
The battery cutoff switch may be bad. Oftentimes, the contacts develop resistance so the lights will work, but the starter current is too high. Try starting again and see if the switch is hot. Sometimes moving it back and forth a few times will clean the contacts enough to get you started.

Thank you John-always trying to learn. I will say prior to this, there was some clicking in the area of the starter solenoid when I tried to start it and then after that nothing. Not sure if that changes your thoughts. I have worked that cut off switch a good bit as I turn it off every time I come in from tinkering every night.
