Steve - do you see over 1000 "users browsing the forum"? AH forum is very popular, and many folks view the forum without logging in or being members. Members and non-members are all counted as users.

OK - back to my cave.

When I looked I saw 1081 users viewing the AH forum. 7 members and 1074 guests. The "guests" are not logged in and many of them are "bots" (Google, Duck Duck Go, Bing, Microsoft, MSN, others) that "crawl" web sites to index the content for their search engines. However, I did see an unusually large number of IP addresses that I determined where originating from China. These IPs all had the same first two octets (the first two groups of numbers). So, I firewalled those using the CIDR method to block the entire range of those IPs. It will take a while for the current IPs to dissipate but I expect that number of "guests" to deline in the coming hours. No guarantees of course as other IPs could replace the blocked ones. Time will tell.
