Healey concept car?

A few years ago I read in a variety of articles in various publications that BMW (I believe) had a plan on the books for a re-birth of our great car. Seems to me that it was slated for 2004 (obviously not) or 2005 although I've heard nothing. There was even an artist's rendition as to what it might look like and to my mind anyway, the concept captured the rakish style and sexiness of the original to a great extent. Hard to improve on the original but based on the artwork, they were close. Has anyone heard anything about the plan coming to fruition?

I found a few things on the web, but nothing newer than 2001. One of the items was a radio interview with surviving members of the Healey family, and representatives of the Rover Group. It seems as there has been a dispute over the use of the Healey name, as, in my understanding, BMW doesn't own it.
Whether that is the reason for the cars disappearance would only be conjucture on my part.
The BMW project name was "Warwick", paying homage to the site of Healeys roots.

Probably the idea has died for now if there's been no action since 2001. Too bad I suppose although opinions will vary on the issue across the spectrum from totally supportive of a "new" Healey (Mark V?) to the originality purists who would be totally against it. Based on the success of the Mini, I can't see any harm in perpetuating a great name and mark as I would think it would only add to the panache, popularity and provenance of our cars.

Here's the car and the story (I posted something about this quite a while back...there was also an enlarged AH-4000 concept car built by BMC):

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif To all listers rest assured it ain't going to happen no "Healey-FWIW---Keoke

Chaps, I think that the Z4 came out as a result of this idea.

Well, if the Z4 is the result of their idea, they - in my opinion, at least, missed the mark a bit. I don't think the Z4 even vaguely is reminiscent of a Healey. Well, OK it is a convertible and has four wheels and ,etc.

It didn't help, that DMH was shot down during WWI by a BMW engined plane.

There was a prior (to the Warrick) design that even more closely resembled the 3000 series. This was to be an aluminum body, aluminum chassis powered by a 400 hp aluminum V8.

They built the car, but it emerged as the Z8. Presumably because of the name dispute, it was (loosely) styled after the BMW 507. With only about 250 produced, it didn't draw the marque identity that the Healey style would have.
