Yep, I saw that one too!! Also a nice rib-case with straight-cut gears (for racing) and a nice looking re-built stock unit.

I notice it says Datsun B210 on the badge. Transmission needed for the Rivergate is from a 210...however, the picture looks just like the tranny I put in Spot, and if it does have the "F" code it's correct.

JPF

$200 and still not met the reserve...

Is this the going rate for these units?

I have a Nissan 90 engine and 5 sp. trans in my '69 (it came that way and is quite a DPO butcher job) but the tranny has detail differences to the ebay one shown above. When I get the chance, I will have to take some pix and get some input from you all as to what I've got and what I should do with it. Right now the car is doing a pretty good impression of a lawn gnome under a tarp in the back yard!

They seem to be going for $400 or so on eBay most of the time.

The 69 was going to be a father and son project to build the boy an LBC, but he joined the USMC, bought himself an brandy-new Scion TC and got married. Dad wound up with a lump in the back yard! I have been thinking of stripping it of all I can use for BE spares and then selling the rest to finance the BE a little. If those trannys are fetching that much, it sounds like an ebay candidate! Ole BugI would love it!

Stripping it for spares seems like a good idea to me -- I just did that with a 75 Midget. Even with the different engine, there are lots of other good bits that will fit as you know. I'd probably hang on to that 5-speed, though. You just might want that overdrive some day.

I thought about that, but it must be a different 5 speed from what they are using I think. the shifter comes out too far rearward for my taste (about 3-4" behind where the stock shifter would be!) and the tunnel seems to have to have been hacked to make it fit. It is mated to the Nissan engine though which is much larger than a 1275 and that may be why. As I said earlier, I will have to post some pix and get advice, Maybe I will take some tomorrow in the daylight!

You may have already checked, but the Rivergate site has a detailed page describing the correct transmission, as well as other alternatives. I like that with the proper box, you don't have to cut or mangle anything on the body.

Thanks for the link. I have looked at it before, but never took note of all the pertinent #s to look for. Now I have them and will be looking for them while I take pix of the tranny tomorrow!!

Well Drew, I went out and took a couple of pics of the poor car, a classic example of PDOmanship. "A first class conversion" hehe...a good parts car though! And it runs! (Just doesn't drive anymore!) You can see a bit of the tranny (and looks close) then I put back the cut-out of the tunnel to show where it was cut to come through! You've got to love the radiator set-up!! I should post a picture of the hacked bonnet to go ever that for a laugh.

That's quite the... um... wow. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I can only image that shifting it must have been interesting, with the shifter that far back. The transmission tunnel provides some of the body strength, doesn't it? Quality work all around.

I'd love to see the bonnet, could use a good laugh. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Oh yeah!! I drove it around the block one when my boy first found it and brought it home and prompltly parked it for parts and storage (assorted parts in the boot)! It was "Salvaged" out of an abandoned storage locker!! (How come Jay Leno finds these treasures in barns and parking garages and such and I wind up with this!!)

Still lots of stuff on it though, and when I see what is sold as usable on ebay...!

BODY STRENGTH?? I guess yeah! and there are no floors either, hehehehe /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Does have a clear title though!

Yes... NOT a sight for sore ones!!

Just for laughs, here is some "quality" body work!
I guess he "lost interest" before he finished it!!

Wow.

That's truly impressive.

And not in a good way.

Some folks should have their tools forcibly removed. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ah, the dangers of letting some people loose with a sawzall!! I should get a close-up of the "quality" weld-up of the exhaust manifold! TRULY underwhelming!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

You should seen my boy (17 at the time) when he came home with his "find"..."Dad it's even got a 5 speed too!" I couldn't bear to knock the wind out of his sails at the time. His "appreciation" grew along with his knowledge and the passage of time though!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
