Interesting concept. Why the clip and do you take it off before the final torque down of the bolt?

And who makes these?

The clip holds on the "D" shaped plate that fits on the lower hexagon. The "D" prevents rotation of the fastener when it hits the header.

OK, that I can see and understand. Do you torque the bolts with contact only being on those three tiny points of bolt head bottoms against the clips?

And who makes these?

After reading up on these, and yes it is winter Tom, I don't know if on a car that is not driven a lot they would be that special.
Everybody recommends several runnings and torquing before locking them in.
Will have to think about these a minute or so.
Paul, Google locking header bolts . You'll find several.

Spend yer sheckles on new lifters/pushrods!

Kids.

*sheesh*

:jester:

OK, but do you remove the clip before torquing them down?

Yes The clip is only put on at the final and last torqueage

Until final torque ,just the bolt. Then add the wing then the clip and your done.

OK How'd I do?

Well.

I posit if ya buy a bunch of grade eight bolts, place 'em at the holes and POUND 'em in with a two-pound hammer, the threads will deform enuff to LOCK the fasteners in and ya got no worries!!! Kinda like the [censored]-house screws in high schools. One-way fasteners.

...until ya gotta remove 'em NEXT year.

What's so bad about a little LocTite onna threads of normal fasteners?

Or is this mill gonna see racing speeds and revs? That's a kettle of a diff'rent colour.

So, is there such a thing as "Snake-oil Engineering"?

So ya gonna go fer new lifters an' rods then? :smirk:

the lifters and cam only have 1000 miles on em.
Prolly do the rods I want to measure em for correctness
