Head casting number

I have an opportunity to purchase a head with the casting number TKC3239. I am thinking about using this head on my Midget engine that I am in the process of rebuilding. Is there a listing of what the different casting numbers mean and what applications they were used on? I did a bit of googling and came up with the notion that this might be a head from a california spitfire. As a sidenote it listed it as "inserted" where as the high compression federal version of the head was listed as "noninserted". Wasn't sure what that meant and wondered if you guys could help me.
Thanks,
JC
