HD-8s

Last week, I was reading a post from or about someone who had 3 HD-8s on a big Healey, but I failed to write the info down and now, in a quick scan, I can't find the posting.

They say that memory is the second thing to go, but I can't remember the first......

Does anyone know who it is who has the HD-8s on their Healey ?

Thanks,

Tim

Hello Cottontop,

The subject was Rear suspension Update started by Tahoe Healey. Scroll down to a post by dougie on 05/19/09.

Yep... That's it !

Many Thanks, Bundy.

I am in the (long overdue) process of installing 4 HD-8's onto the Ford 302 V8 in my Healey and hoping that Dougie will share some tips.

I am also converting to a crank fired ignition to get rid of that soup can distributor.

Thanks again,

Tim

Well, Tim
You know me, I like them Mikunis. Check these out, for a Yamaha V-Max. Since these are downdrafts, you'd get a straighter shot into the cylinders. TDMRs
Oh, and they have accelerator pumps.

The British are so thoughtful; they added oil to the carburettors so that they could leak too!

Greg,

I shudder to think about what a set of those puppies cost. Brrr... The thought sends shivvvers up my spine.

I'd go with something like that if I could get them for what I could get out of these 4 SU's.

Bolting these SU's on and plumbing them is the easiest part. The hardest part is that since I have an AOD trans, I have to "invent" a whole different carb linkage for the transmission TVR cable. They didn't need that for the stick car they came out of.

I also have to add a throttle position sensor for the crank fired igntiton system computer.

Speekin' of motorcycle stuff, The SoCal guy that I bought these SU's from made this set-up for his SBF from 2 banks of Kawasaki Hayabusa injectors

NOTE also no distributor on this Ford 302 V8.

Honestly, I don't know how much the TDMRs in their raw state would cost. That kit listed above runs $2400, all the linkage and bracketing would be useless for your application. The HSRs I bought for the Healey were about $225 each. I've actually been trying to find the TDMRs for my motorcycle, but I'm only finding kits. I'll give Mikuni a call soon to see what's up.

P.S. Those injectors look cool, I may be a die-hard carb lover though.
