Hazard relay and hazard flasher question

on my rewiring project I found out the hazard relay and hazard flasher are bad. the question and I have a 71 TR6, do both front and back lights all flash at the same time or do they alternate between font and back, seems the relay TRF sent is a 5 pin SPDT and what I should have is SPST the only difference in the numbering is 87A vs 87B on the pins

If they alternate at all, it would have to be side to side, rather than front to back.

However, I'm fairly certain that they did not originally alternate, and you should have an 87b terminal rather than 87a. Since the relay itself does not 'flash' (at least as Dan's schematic shows it), a SPDT relay would let one side flash and not the other side.

well I have figured out a few things, the new relay works, I ran a direct hot to the lights and Green white is right front right rear. Green red is left front left rear, so the circuits work. the relay works, its the 3 prong hazard flasher must be the issue, I purchased an electronic one and I wonder if electronic will not work. I can hook the flasher up and then run a hot wire from the battery and touch light green pink and the flasher flashes, and the all the lights work so it has to be a certain type of flasher unit, any one had to replace the 3 prong flasher and what did you do? also could it be I dont have the engine in the car and some of the wires are still not hooked up to things, like alternator, temp sensor, oil pressure sensor and starter?

Sounds to me as though you have the flasher wired wrong. LG/K should be the output from the flasher to the relay contacts; the flasher gets power on the PR wire from the hazard switch.

I'm only familiar with the Tridon EL13 "electronic" flasher, and it should work fine. But I don't have a 71 TR6, so I've never tried it in that circuit, nor do I know that all 3-prong electronic flashers are the same.

sorry I meant the light green pink, it does go back to the relay to supply power thru the relay to both front and back lights or should I say it supplies power to the left side and right side lights. In reading dan masters book seems how the flashers for turn signals and hazards work different, the hazard basically start in the on position and due to the heat strip it works like on, off,on, off, on, off, where as the turn signals are, off,on,off,on,off,on

surely someone out there has had to replace the hazard flasher unit with something else and it worked,

Ps after some messing with the old hazard flasher I can get it to work intermitently, and the flashers do work so at least that takes a little off my mind and plate I also took the metal cover off and can see the heat strip and bimetal strip working

Like Randall, I too have a tridon H13 3-prong flasher relay that I put into a Lucas cannister to keep it looking original.

Right. Which means that if the relay were energized (by power from the hazard switch on PR) and you supplied power directly to the light green w/pink wire, the turn lamps should come on solid.

What happens if you supply power to the PR wire?

well after taking the cover off the hazard flasher and doing some bending and poking on that bi metalic strip , I have the hazards working correctly, and going thru the relay and all wires hooked up properly I would like to find another hazard flasher unit, so where can I find a tridon h13 unit? not that I plan on using the hazards!

or does anyone have a spare original hazard flasher for a 70-71 year TR6

I'm not sure what a Tridon H13 is; but an EL-13 should be readily available at Autozone, O'Reillys, etc. Also online from Amazon, Rockauto, Advance Auto, etc.

One caution, if it fits into a clip, make sure the clip isn't too tight. My first one failed because the pressure from the clip eventually broke the plastic housing.
