Took the TR6 up to Hayfields for the monthly meetup. Temperature 49F when I left at 8 am with my top down. Couldn't get it up. (No remarks please). Shrinkage (ok, ok already - I heard it all this morning). There were about 27 cars when I left about 10:15. Besides 7 TR6s, one with his newly-painted hardtop, there were 3 Ferrari's, 3 XKE's, a Lotus Elan, C-type Jag (I think a replica), an Arnolt Bristol, MGB GT, Spitfire, beautiful Jag 3.8 sedan, one A-Healey, pre-war Bentley, several Porsches including an older 911, a couple of Mustangs, and 2 Corvettes (one new model). Driving home, I thought I was back at Lime Rock in 1957. A Ferrari in the lead, followed closely by the Arnolt Bristol, then me, through the sweeping bends of Route 121, sunlight filtering through the bare trees and flickering like a strobe, as we powered through the turns. I took some pictures with my flip phone (remember them?) but have no cable to get them into the computer and perhaps attach them to show here. The car ran perfectly and only my hands were cold as I had flaps down on my hat. This is why we have these cars. Worth all the aggravation and the expense don't you think?
