Haven't a Cluely....

Its not very often you come across a car in the flesh that you have never heard of but on Tuesday at our local monthly car meet (200 plus classics, customs and bikes) I saw a Cluely. A quick Google told me they were built in Coventry between 1922 and 1929. Only nine are known to survive - a rare site indeed. I didn't have my camera with me and unfortunately and I can't find a picture anywhere on the net. Did any ever make it to the States I wonder?

I have found a picture of a 1923 10.4 hp Cluley tourer in the 3rd edition (1982) of G.N. Georgeano's _The New Encyclopedia of Motorcars 1885 to the Present_. And I found this on the Net:

I have an Encyclopedia of American Cars here, and during the 1920's and early 30's there were probably as many car manufacturers as there are McDonald's restaurants or Wal-Mart stores in the united states. This book has production numbers (most of the time), and engine options listed for each car, as well as what they sold for. Then there's a write-up of the history of each manufacturer. I'd love to have a similar book on British cars, or european cars.
