I think I have the car changed to negative ground, I believe I followed procedure. The engine spins when I use the started button on the solenoid.

Still there is a green with a blue or maybe purple tracer that does not appear in the Herald workshop book or my Spitfire books. I wonder if the way to go is move it to other side of the coil?

When the caliper pistons arrive I finish the brakes. Then add fuel and another Triumph back on the road.

T.T.

Reverse the two wires on the coil. If in doubt, your multi-meter will tell you the polarity. The car should run either way but you shouldn't run it too long with incorrect configuration on the coil.
Why the change to negative, by the way?

Any idea where that wire is coming FROM? On the Herald Only small wires on the SOLENOID (not coil) should be a white w/red wire and a brown wire. The coil would have a white power wire on one side and white w/black to the distributor on the other side. Green w/purple would be the wire from the brake light switch to the brake lights, so it should have nothing to do with ignition.

There is an aftermarket radio, I took it out. The wire appears to be part of the system rather than added. I'll leave it disconnected and see how it goes. I noticed the wire that should go to the oil pressure sensor goes nowhere. The oil pressure sensor is usually below the distributor, I think.

I have the calipers ready to go on the car except I forgot the torque setting for caliper bolts. There is a article on from Buckeye Triumphs but I don't think the writer stated the setting.

OK. Negative ground radio. That makes sense.
This is only an observation from one car, my 13/60, so may be irrelevant and this car has been messed around with considerably so may be incorrect also, but here is what I see.
The wire to the oil pressure switch (yes, directly below distributor) is white with a red or brown tracer. There wires on the coil are as Andy described. There are a pair of green wires with a dark (purple?) tracer that come out of the harness in the same general area and go back into the tranny tunnel (back up lights?).
For what it's worth. Tom

Thanks for you help. Tomorrow the new water pump should be here. Clutch, brakes, electric, tires. Maybe on the road Saturday. Woo-hoo!
