Has anyone bought anything from or know anything about Terry Bone, purveyer of pre and post-war MGs in the UK? He's got some neat stuff but that's a long way to go to get a car.

What exactly are you planning, Adam? Should I get my camera ready? I smell something really old... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had a friend pass away in the fall of last year, Ed Seagrave, Ed was well known through out the early MG crowd. His wife with the help of a few of my local car club members will start selling Ed's cars, parts and pieces off in the fall of this year as estate matters are settled. Ed has a few show winning cars and tons of spares, the show cars won't be cheap but they are the best examples and restored to the highest levels, if you are interested I can forward you to the folks handling this for the family, email me at home hapfp@charter.net

Hap - did he have a YB saloon?

Now that could be interesting!

These cars are not exactly cheap. Also the delivery is basically within England and includes costs. I would do the same if I was selling you a TF for $30,000. Actually transportation costs are not that great. Buy one of his cars and have it shipped to the USA could be done for $1,000. Buying and selling of collectors cars is very big business these days LBC's are not that big in the USA but they are in Europe. There are a number of Europeans buying up LBC's and shipping them back from whence they came.

Have you looked around lately? 1600 MG's in Gatlinburg, TN for a car show as an example...the reason they're buying ours & shipping them back is because we have them all - well, at least the ones that haven't rusted away!

The LBC thing is growing...but it will never be close to the American Muscle cars in terms of demand and value....Anyone who isn't sure about this should check out their local cruise night.

I agree that they are not cheap - especially if one was to bring one, not only across the pond, but across the land mass that is across the pond (to california)....

However, if his reputation is strong and the cars are as good as he claims, some of them could really be showstoppers here in the US!

Its the exchange rate. With a ÂŁ1 worth nearly $2 these cars are relatively cheap, particularly since most of the sports cars had something like 80-90% of their production exported, and they're relatively more rare and hence have a scarcity valuable.

British cars aren't very popular in Southern California compared to others. Jaguar E-Types have the best showing but you still rarely see them. But muscle cars and various American makes from the 50's - 70's are all over the place.

The larger British shows out here get 100-300 cars. That many if not more American / street rod / muscle cars than than sometimes show up for a cruise night!
