Harmonic balancer repairs

Anyone know of a place that can rebuild a balancer?
I don't want to put an old balancer with questionable "rubber" into service.
Thanks,
Patrick

I wouldn't trust a relaminated dampener any more that I would trust one out of a junkyard.

I wish I had a picture of Layne Perkins BJ8 crankshaft after his dampener came apart (at residential neighborhood speed, about a block from his house). It broke the snout off the crankshaft right through the 1st counterweight!

I recommend that you put your money in one of the race dampeners out of Australia.

I have the same Pro Race damper. It's like a piece of jewelry for your car. Excellent craftsmanship.

Good thinking, Pat !!

I have a half dozen Sprite vintage racer friends that just as a mater of fact turn their "little" [sic<G>] 948 motors anywhere from 8000 to 10,000 RPMs and they ALL use "Dampner Doctor"
( https://www.damperdoctor.com/ ). I only know 1 or 2 Big Healey racers that also use the Co.

BUT I will qualify the above in that I know very few racers nor follow racing.

And I will also FLAT tell you that come late spring when I RE-awaken my Hortense my dampner IS
going to said Co. and I even think her's is OK.

BTW, Hortense's STD bore/stroke motor really LIKES 9 to 10 K RPMS!!! HeeHeeHeeHee.

FWIW, FYI & BTW, I work on these cars for a living (weak as it is currently<F>).

I am immediately suspicious of a company that lists "Austin Martin" as a manufacturer...

Randy, you are confused. Austin Martin is my neighbor. He's a nice guy.

Randy,

Thanks,
Patrick

I don't recall now what I paid five (5) years ago, but it's the one offered by Moss Motors, so it is what it is.

As Greg says, it's a quality piece; and way less money than breaking a crankshaft.
