I have a screw that has a small blue plastic plug in the side on the thread part. Similar to the screw that holds the calipers together. What is this called?
 
At work we called them "Self Locking" screws.

The plastic insert creates friction against the thread so the screw won't loosen due to vibration.

They are meant for one-time use and must be replaced if they are removed.
 
Older Brit ones are called "Nyloc" - Nylon Locking, though that's strictly some company's brand name.
 
I thought only the Nuts were called "Nylock" but I can see where bolts would be called that as well. These are for my old Wilton Vise on my new bench. I decided to strip it and repaint it but the 1/4-20 bolts holding the jawas on were fairly well buggered and needed replacing. The heads are also a little bit smaller in diameter. The guy at the hardware store told me that they were called self locking. Just gonna use some stainless cap heads with thread locker which should do the trick.
