Years ago when my Sprite was a daily driver I used my hardtop for the entire Ohio winter. Over time when I would put it away for the summer I noticed that where it rested on the body of the car behind the seats that the paint was scarred. Now that I have completed the restoration of the car I would like to show the hardtop at shows. I am trying to figure out a way to avoid marring my fresh paint but don't have any good ideas. Hopefully just using it for car shows will mean that there won't be any problems but I'm wondering if someone has a solution. The top is the Donald Healey version, not the factory one, so I'd like to put it on when the car is on display.
 
I've used 3M Paint Protection Film on a Jeep with half door to protect the upper part of the door from where the soft upper sits. I don't know it would look on the car without the hardtop on because to see the edge when it gets dirty but it may be woth a shot.
