Does anyone have any information on hardtops for the 100? Any originals would be like hens teeth, but is there a new option? I prefer it open, but it would be useful as an alternative for winter rallyes.

Hi John,
There are several places that might have a hardtop for your car.
https://fp.bighealey.f9.co.uk/
https://www.smoothline.com/
https://www.cape-international.com/

I have long searched for an original, but as you know, they are pretty rare. I really don't like the new fiberglass replacement tops very well.

I finally found a fairly original, very early at least, aluminum top at Cape. They are completely rebuilding it, along with much modification, to match this one in the attached photo. Good luck in your search. Maybe one of the new FG models will suit your tastes.

Thanks Dave, i will look at these sites. The hardtop in the picture looks very smart.I have had dealings with Cape from an introduction at the Healey 50 celebrations when I was in England. Not terribly impressed. Their pricing was very high and when I bought the first set of works style lamp brackets, they clearly had been made wrongly and angled too much towards the centre. They were reluctant to accept my feedback saying it was the positioning of french registrations! They subsequently re made them, saying THEY had discovered the errors. So I am less comfortable to go to Cape.
Will let you know how I get on.

100-4 or 100-6?

Dave,
i had a look at the sites. At smmothline the picture didn't do the hardtop justice. the car looked squashed! At big Healey, they had better pix but the price seemed very steep. Then there were the sidescreens to fit the hardtop as well. For occasional use I can't justify that and I would have to go to England to collect it. Maybe, just maybe an old one will come along one day!!Think positively,We only got soaked once on a rallye and that was in England and I don't compete there anymore.

John - I too have been looking for a hardtop for a 100-4. Rarer than hens teeth I am afraid. Wonder if any still exist anywhere? There must a be a few around but imagine they are being held by their owners. Speaking of original tops from the 1950's of course.

My friend Charlie Braum in Pittsburgh has two of them, both made in the UK as opposed to the Smoothline tops. They are strange looking at best but interesting. I have seen 100 hardtops on ebay twice over the last few years.

I have one of the early ones from the 50's, it came with my car. Someone told me it was an aftermarket "Preferred Plastics" unit or something like that. It does not fit all that great but we use it when we travel -- it stiffens up the car quite a bit and is definitely more comfortable to travel with.

I have seen several of them at various Healey events over the years, but they are not common.

That looks good Healey 100 ; it suits the car.Not sure why the modern ones have not copied the old designs.
Ah well, just have to keep looking.
