Hard top BN6-BN7

Could anyone tell me if a 59 BN6 Hard top will fit a 61 BN7.
My thoughts are that it will but I would like to be certain before pursuing this matter further. There is a 59 BN6 on e-bay with a hard top and it is within about an hours drive of my house. I left him a voice mail to see if he would consider selling the top seperate from the car.

Thanks Bob

Noone else had answered, so I'll take a stab at it.

It is my understanding that any "real" Healey hardtop for a 6 cylinder, 4 seat roadster (= non-roll up window) will fit and attach to any other 6 cylinder, 4 seat roadster (= non-roll up window).

I'm sure that the same top will also fit a 6 cylinder, 2 seat roadster (= non-roll up window), but that the rear seal is different because the top for a 4 seat rests on the cockpit surround and for the 2 seat rests on the rear decking, between the cockpit surround and the trunk lid.

Tops for the 100-4, 100-6, and roll up window cars are not interchangable.

If the top won't fit your car, you can undoubtedly sell it for whatever you paid for it.

I'm in the middle of refinishing one for my '59 100-6.

The two seat and four seat tops are completely different from each other in the rear window area. The two seater has a much taller rear window as the shroud area it rests on is lower than the four seater. That being said, any two seat 6 cylinder top will fit any other two seater, bn6 or bn7.

Two seat tops are worth dramatically more than the four seat tops. I have seen a two seat top alone sell for over $6,000.

Bob--

Yes, a BN6 top will fit a BN7--I bought a top from a fellow who sold his BN6 and put it on my wife's BN7. A four-seater top will NOT fit a two-seater as the profiles of the scuttles are entirely different.

Bob--

I just visited the ebay site and this statement is made in the Q&A section:

"It is a brand new never installed after market top"

The aftermarket tops are completely different animals than the factory ones--proceed with caution and make no assumptions as to fit or appearance.

Thanks Michael,

I would like to have a hard top but I would only go with the original version. I did finally get in contact with Mike in NC that owns the car on e-bay and he sent me some pictures of the top and told me it was a newly mfg. piece. Maybe someday I will run across one but I guess it's not my biggest priority since the car's not quite completed yet. Oh and by the way your two cars look great!
Regards Bob

Hi Guys

It can even be worse. Member Andrea notified me, that there was a hardtop for sale for my BN 7. I imidiately contacted the seller (powerseller retroparts) We discuss the top and I agreed to buy this top and send him as agreed over the phone an email as he was on his way to his shop. He told me he would sent me a link to purchase the top directly for the agreed price. On his way to the hardtop as he was selling it for a third party he was checking some of my questions and Guess what happenend The seller had put a buy it now after that he had send me an email, that he had put a buy it now by the time the email arrived the top was gone for the by the seller and me mutual agreed price. I called the seller directly asking what happenend to our agreement he is telling me I had put a buy it now on it and somebody else bought it.

Well than I really wonder what is the status of a verbal agreement. Appearantly is in the Netherlands the status of a verbal agreement followed by an email not the same as in the United States

I think that was a top for a 4 seater and would not have worke dfor your car anyway. The description said it came off a 56 which were only 4 seaters.

Hello Steve,

That is what it initially said but I asked him for the number stamped in puts it in the listing instead of selling the top directly for the agreed price but according to my knowledge it is a 2 seat top
