driving like that
driving like that with personalized plates so people can identify you
driving like that as new drivers
giving new drivers cars like that

Street Racers arrested

I hope that they DO seize the cars,& sell them at auction.
I wonder how the Parent's of these kids feel - although just why
would you give a teenager a car like that?

I am sure glad that I never did anything stupid when I was a new driver!!!
(I am surprised that I am still alive to type this!).

Same here Bill, though I never had any high priced machinery or anything capable of more than 120. :eeek:

I did once have a '59 Vauxhall Victor (Super!!) that could almost hit 50MPH!! but even pushing it to that speed was stupid.
--and my car's values went downhill ever since--

In some counties in California, they impound street racers and crush them.

Parent to child: "I know you were just having a good time but I'll have to ground you for a week. I am sure then you will have learned your lesson. While you're grounded Dad will take your car for it's scheduled maintenance. Oh and yes we will make Charlie (the limo driver) available for you."

Sounds right to me. :hammer:

I once did 70 in a horribly rusty CJ5... I'm still not sure I actually survived.

Hey.... I want Charlie to take me to the rap concert....

A friend & I used to wax cars in the early/mid '70's.
The 240Z was what we specialized in.I used to take them out,
driving for miles & miles.I took one up to over 100mph!I passed
a Datsun 510 wagon,& a little while later noticed some headlights
coming up fast.I was thinking "Datsun 510's don't go THAT fast".
I slowed down to 65 (speed limit then),& had a CHP right on my
bumper.I debated weather or not to take the next exit.I didn't,
but the CHP did.
Of course, this was nothing like street racing.

So, so glad the cops got 'em.

Justice is a good thing, especially in this case. :yesnod:

- Mommy and Daddy spoil the brats by giving them a new car (any new car is bad enough, let alone a high powered one)

- They speed up to 200KPH (125 MPH)

- They only get fined $196.

PRICELESS

Modern verbiage for California driving infractions, what you did ~can~ be considered "street racing" (if you did it today)...
