Hard lifters,Piston gap

I shipped off my new camshaft, and lifters that i bought from PRI to Elgin cams. They tested the lifters (had rck of 64) said the were great lifters and that they had a bench full of MG lifters that were a pile of junk. I guess it pays to spend a 100 bucks on lifters. Anywho, my machine shop checked my piston clearance and say the prev. rebuild had bored them loose for running around a oval all day at 5000rpm. I had .30+ ae hepolites in there so now i am looking for .40+ ae hepolites. Normal clearance is .003 to .004. My guys want to go around .0015 to .0020 when done. I have read on the web that the county pistons are made in India, True or not i do not know. The cam is getting the Elgin treatment, a custom grind to match how your engine is set up. Any one out there spray the payen coated head gasket with copper?

I would suggest getting Vanolia, piston tech has advanced and lighter weight and greater strength are good things to invest in. You didnt say if this was a TR or spit? but 87 mm is what you want for the tr. forged pistons must be run a little looser than cast, so get the pistons down to your machine shop and have them get it right....

William, Dema Elgin is who I sent all my lifters to, as well as being my "cam guy". No finer anywhere. That's where I got the information regarding soft lifters that I cited in a previous post.
Venolia makes excellent pistons, and are much cheaper that some of the alternatives, such as Cosworth.
My Venolia contact is Dale, at 562 531 8463, ext 101.

I did even though the Payen gasket I used came with a heavy silvery coating.
