Dear Members. I'm happy to join BCF from the Netherlands. Not only for useful tips and tricks, but as Basil points out rightfully, camaraderie among likehearted.
Been oldtimer fan since my youth. Owned a VW T2 back in the late 80s. Tried to find an uncut gem since, but couldn't, so I settled for an 1967 Austin Healey Sprite MK4 two years ago. I did find that totally unspoilt original paint/rust 1972 VW T2 the week after ... and bought that too.
I came to love the Healey though. Previous owner knew about upholstery only. My wife says the last 2 years she mostly only saw my legs. So yes .. I dare come out of the closet ... I was secretly a vehicle mechanic all along and I love British engineering and design. Although luckily the 1275 engine itself purrrs beautifully, everything else was neglected, shoddy fixes, lack of use of original fittings, missing parts, etc.
For those who know him from TV, Mr Ed China from Wheeler Dealers is my hero. He motivated me to just grab that (British) spanner and dive into it.
