Turkey shoots are popping up all around New England this time of year.

Sure scared the heck out of the folks in the frozen food section ...

My Wife went to St Petersburg,Florida & I'm going to Roanoke!
Somehow that doesn't seem fair.Maybe I'll have a TV dinner.

Off to my brother's a couple hour north shortly, all I need to do for Thanksgiving is get a couple bottles of wine which is much better and easier than trying to cook for everyone. And with my cooking, well, easier than getting all those waiver of responsibility for the possible end results of eating my cooking forms signed, notarized and such....

Happy Thanksgiving!

My wife usually goes out of town to visit relatives and leaves me to fend.
This year, she is not traveling and promised me a calamari steak.
One of her specialties, (she is a fishaterian).

Ohh, calamari steak! We did have some calamari appetizers last night. I used to look forward to having calamari burgers at Spengers in Berkeley. Wife can't stand it.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

She uses a special recipe that she used back when Abalone was affordable.
I have only one qualm, squid is very close to octopus, which I would never consider eating.
They are in my opinion, a higher form of life than humans.

I had octopus once in Hawaii; it tasted like lobster, but it was tough and stuck to the roof of my mouth.

We (self, wife Mary, son Ryan, DIL Jamie and granddaughter Aria) went to the base today and had Thanksgiving dinner at the Thunderbird Inn. It was really great dinner and they even had a guy playing electric piano and singing. There were quite a few retirees there today.
They had the POW/MIA table for one set up right next to our table.

PS: We're going to do this again next year! Full Turkey dinners for five with all the fixings for $38 total!

What? $38?
We were seven for dinner tonight and the tip was more than $38.
The equalizer was that we both enjoyed dinner with our families.

I knew it would be less than eating off base, but I was even shocked at how reasonable it was. We are going to do it again next year! (And since you basically go through a cafeteria line, there is no "tip." (Though I did toss a few dollars into the piano players jar)

I went to my brother in Columbus OH for the day, had a great meal. They had several friends over as well, one a mom in her 40s with her 14yo daughter. We older folks confounded the girl talking about years past. She was watching on her phone and I made the comment that when I was
a kid all we had was black and white tv. Her mouth dropped out and she wanted to know if everything back then was either black or white and when did color get invented. Took a bit to get her to understand that everything was on color but due to the tech as the time the picture was black, white and shades of grey. And when I noted that I remembered seeing in tv the movement of John Fitzgerald Kennedy from the White House to the Capitol to lie in state, she got this puzzled look and asked who that was. Said she'd heard of a President named JFK, but not John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Had to say "think about it, those are initials", before the light went on. Ah, kids today....

So sad, a lot of kids today miss out on the simple things.
Last night, I was telling my wife that I saw steam locomotives when I was young.
She was aghast after a google search confirmed what I said.

I still remember my Uncle taking us on Highway 99 (Now I 5) just North
of Lake Shasta & watch a train pulled by a steam engine come by.

Speaking of steam trains ... this one still runs in southeast Connecticut.

Tom M.
When I saw them they were working steam engines.
Took one to visit relatives in Bethpage Long Island.
