I spent lots of quality time in Canada when I was a Radar Evaluation Engineer in the Air Force. In fact, back in the day, I did the site surveys for what is now the North Warning system (DEW Line replacement). I had the opportunity to spend three months in northern Labrador and Baffin Island conducting site surveys for about 33 locations along the coast. Then I had to do coverage studies and determine the best locations to put a limited number of radar sites for the system. Then was able to brief the Canadian Air Defense Headquarters with recommendations for the best locations from a logistics and radar coverage perspective. Baffin Island was a cool place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there! Even in August it was chilly. I've also spent a month in Nova Scotia doing evaluations of some of the Canadian Radar systems there. Nova Scotia was a beautiful place! I probably used up 5 rolls of film just taking pictures of light houses!
