Watching Fox and Friends this AM with great tributes on 68th anniversary of US Air Force!

It seems like quite a few of the younger generation has little interest in our military achievements over the years. We need more history pressed in their minds on how this great organization along with others, gave us the freedom we have today. We are indebted to our military organizations for the freedom we share and should back them and the men and women who serve, 100%! I think my signature says it all! :encouragement:

My father had quite an interest in history, where I get it from I assume. I find it fascinating, from the ancient world to today since, for better or worse, fighting, conquest and defense are what has shaped the world we live in today. And can be said responsible for the fact each of us exist.

Oh my... I was TDY to Kitty Hawk for the 25th anniversary celebration. Feelin' really old now.

My step father flew P38s for the U.S Army Air Corp in WWII.

Besides it's super abilities, just looking at it in flight would scare most people half to death! One very mean machine! :encouragement: PJ

Perhaps this explains the air show at Andrews AFB over the weekend. We're just far enough away that I did not see most of it but a F-35 (IIRC) flew over the house, accompanied by a P-51 (dwarfed).

Back in the day when I was a Maintenance man on the NORAD SAGE computer system, we could always tell when the blackbird was flying through the area! Lets just say the flight profile was distinct! That beast would take three states to turn 180 when it was cooking!

Like this?
F-22/P-51

My first thought was that if you could photograph that from Maine... what kind of camera DO you have? :glee: But yeah, except I'm really more certain the escort was an F-35 although I'm not as well versed in post-'45 aircraft.

The P-51 does have a distinctive planform, that much was easy to spot. And they actually passed, hmm, 2-3 blocks south of me, and I'm probably 15 miles from the AFB in a straight line, this was the only fly-over that I saw. I could not hear the Mustang's engine at all.:sorrow:
