Thank you, Basil! Quiet day for me: visited mom, got a call from my son (19) after he got out of work, and also got a brief call from my daughter (22), who is in Army National Guard basic training @ Ft. Sill, OK. The only presents I needed!

Doc: the Army is good enough to allow sometimes as much as an hour on Sunday afternoon or early evening for the recruits to pull out their own cell phones and call home, but it's not a guarantee! Some weeks go better than others for any given platoon. :wink: Some weeks, she's lucky to be able to text a few people quickly (which leaves me out, since my home is in a cell phone-proof valley)! Other weeks, she might get the full hour, as she was able to a week ago, so we chat away on my land line.

In between, it's the good old USPS!
