Hap, What's the best high heat paint you've used, if any, for exhaust manifolds or headers? Bill Hirsch has, <span style="text-decoration: underline">as advertized,</span> 1800 degree paint. Any others out there? Just checking. PJ
 
I used the VHT on trace headers, and can tell you it did not hold up, so I listening as well, 1800 degrees ought to do it, normal exhaust temps get around 1300 or so, so 1800 would be good. The first siz inches are so of a header or exahust manifold is the challenge, after that VHT stuff has held up.
 
Thanks Hap, I'm going to order the Hirsch 1800 degree paint. It's worth a try and if their 1800 degree statement is true and the exhaust temps stay around 1300 degrees, I would think it should hold up. If it doesn't, then I'll have it ceramic coated. I just didn't want to spend that much money on the manifold if I didn't have to. I'll probably go broke restoring this car as it is! :rolleyes: PJ
