I am going to reinstall my engine tomorrow and was wondering what to bolt the chain to on the engine. When I removed it I used the 2 studs that held the valve cover on and I think I was lucky not to have damaged anything as they look pretty small. I am going to istall engine and trans togther. Anyone have any suggestions. thanks Skip

Per the manual, it sounds like you remove the rocker assy. and use two or more of those studs to secure a chain or special designed bracket for lifting.
That's how I do it anyway.

I use a piece of 2x2x1/4" angle bolted to the long studs (same ones that secure the valve cover). The angle is relieved to clear the other rocker nuts (the rockershaft IS in place too). The vertical piece of the angle has several holes so a shackle can be moved about to get different angles when removing engine/trans or handling engine only.

The angle is bolted tightly to the head, sandwiching the rockershaft pedestals. I have never had trouble with those studs as a result of this procedure.

Thanks guys thats what I am going with; I was afraid of slipping the chain over the studs and bending them. I am going to use a piece of angle over the studs with a leveler hooked to my engine hoist. Skip
