For SWMBO that is.
Went car shopping this w/e.
Rugrat on the way. 2 dogs already here.
Beetle wasn't cutting it any more.

We already have an SUV. It's a gas-hog. Wanted something a bit more fuel efficient, but still semi-fun to drive.

Couldn't get her to go the minivan route (I'm convinced minivans are the offspring of nascar crossed with an F117 - they all do 100 on the freeway, but when did you ever see one pulled over).

Managed to get her to try a wagon - it was good enough, so we ended up buying it. Got a loaded '07 Passat V6 AWD with 7k on the clock for 80% of new retail. Pick it up on Monday night.

Much more fun than installing drywall, which is what I was *supposed* to do this weekend...

I've eyeballed a few of those Passat wagons. Sharp little buggies.
Hope you enjoy it.

Sounds like a perfect "utility" vehicle.
But: will it hold a sheet of drywall? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

For where you're 'based' and the 'practical' needs it will be fitting ya done good, IMO. The kid will likely be able to take the drivers' test in it later, too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

No, but the LR will.
I had 10 sheets of CDX ply in there last week w/o a problem.

The car is ok. It's not thrilling, but then it has 4 seats so it wouldn't be. We get it tonight, so I'll take it for a more spirited test drive then. The car salesman was a bit of a nervous passenger.

As to the drivers test - ymbj - we get through cars like its going out of style. The bug it's replacing is 3 years old. That's the longest I've *ever* had a car. Pretty sad, no...
