Had a trip to see a car - 1275 motor pics, info?

Re: Had a trip to see a car - 1275 motor pics, inf

Rick, it's simple no inline 1275 ever had side covers, ever, early or other wise. There's only two heads ever put on a 1275 12G940 (pre smog), and 12G1316 (smog ports in the heads) for all practical purposes they are bascily the same, all the 1275 Midget head have the same size valves 1.31" intake, and 1.15" exhaust in all the Midget 1275 heads for the entire production run. They were only two inline crankshafts ever made the EN16T and the EN40B, either will work fine, all the rods are basicly the same (and press fit), another easy give away on a 1275m is they have the breather cans on the timing cover, and all of them have six bolts in the cranksahfts at the flywheel, 948/1098 only have 4. So bottom line any 1275 will be the same outside of it having smog ports in the head or not. Some will ramble on about high compression or low compression pistons, but if you are rebuilding it, then who cares you either use the 8.8 Pistons (same as the factory hi-comp) or the 9.7 pistons like I used in Ray and Drew's motors, or go wild and make yourself a 1380  here's a few pics, all been seen here many times, but maybe they will help, just remember no side cover and you can't go wrong, 1967 was the beginning of the 1275 in the US.

Thanks Hap, that really is very helpful.
Gives me more idea what I'm looking at next time.
