I'm at the point of renewing my driver's license so Saturday morning went to the local BMV. While waiting for it to open I was sitting outside and a young family was there with a boy about4 and girl about 6. The boy was racing around in the grass and at one point a squirrel came down from a tree and stood there. Told the boy to stand there and call across to the squirrel and ask, "Hey, where's the moose??". And he did. The squirrel ran off, neither he nor the other kids or the folks asked what the reference to the moose was. I don't think they really knew, just an old guy kidding the boy probably.

So how many get the late 50s/early 60s reference to moose and squirrel??....

At my college student union, one of the most popular girls there was from Russia...popular because everyone just wanted to hear her say Natasha's best line..."moose and squirrel". Not only was she a good sport being glad to comply, she sounded like a dead match.
 
My wife was a ticket agent for American Airlines here in KC. Every year for Halloween, they got to dress up. One year, she went as “Natasha” from the show. I made her a name tag that said “Natasha Fatale” (> Natasha Fatale - Wikipedia <). Everyone called her Ms. Fatale, not getting the connection!

Another year, she went as “Rufus T. Firefly.” I’ll leave you to guess who that was…

You should have used a Russian accent and said "where is moose?"

I'm older than dirt, but I had to look that up.
Would you believe I know about Duck Soup but don't think I ever saw it.
 
Let’s see…the latter has to do with Ed “Big Daddy” Roth?

And the former is a particular actor’s pseudonym: Steve McQueen, who would be 90 this year! I always liked his quote, “I’m not sure whether I’m an actor who races or a racer who acts.”
