Balloon Fiesta 2016-22345 copy.jpg

Have always wanted to see this. I've only ridden in a balloon once.

Nice work, Basil! They stopped our balloon festival over a decade ago, durnit. One of the local papers would devote an insert section to it with my photos. Free publicity and good portfolio material.

I had never been so awe struck as I was and still am at the Balloon Fiesta. I wasn't able to get that silly grin off my face and didn't care that when I looked up my mouth was open. Husband Doug made me awaken at some ungodly hour to be on the field at 5:00 AM. I complained all the way on the drive to the field. Kavetched about the traffic, the cold weather, etc. poor Doug. He did know however that he had a secret weapon - the balloons. There was nothing I had ever experienced before. I was there, touching the balloons, helping with the launch and then eating my way down the many food concessions lining the field. My first fiesta was at least 20 years ago and it has never gotten old. What an experience. If any of you ever get the chance to be a part of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, just do it! And yes Doug arranged for a private champagne flight for the two if us a couple of weeks later. Surely life events I will never forget.

I drove last year. Never again. This year we caught the bus at Coronado Mall at 4:30 and were on the field in 15 minutes! Easy peasy! Two balloons I didn't see this year were the POW/MIA and Pink Floyd, but saw some new special shapes I didn't recall from last year.
